Usage guide

Using ugcpeople footage in your edits

Good footage should be easy to work with. It should also be clear what you are buying and what the finished video says about the person in it.

The useful bit

This guide explains the product and points to the terms. It does not add a separate rights grant, promise exclusivity or turn a stock reaction into an endorsement.

Start with the terms for your purchase

The terms of service cover using ugcpeople and its clip library. The service provides footage for edits such as ads, Reels and product demos. Purchasing access does not transfer ownership of the footage or the people’s identities.

Read the current terms before using a clip in a project with particular rights requirements. If a client, distribution partner or campaign requires an explicit territory, usage duration or other contractual permission that is not stated, ask for written clarification before relying on it.

Make a finished edit, not a replacement library

The product is a source of footage for your creative work. Add your own product recording, story, captions and sound where appropriate. Keep source downloads connected to the account and project that obtained them.

The terms prohibit reselling or distributing original clips as a standalone library, sharing paid downloads as a substitute for another person’s access, and claiming a person endorses your product without permission. A purchase is not a transfer of the entire collection to redistribute.

SituationWhat to check
An ad or Reel you are editingThe intended use, claims and current terms
Sending original files to another buyerDo not substitute file sharing for their library access
A client campaignClarify the client and delivery arrangement if not covered
An exclusive campaignDo not assume exclusive use of a stock clip
A person described as a customerA stock expression alone does not support that description

Keep the product claim attached to real evidence

A surprised face can introduce a demonstration. It does not establish that the person used the product or experienced a particular outcome. Place claims on the action you can show rather than putting an unsupported personal story in the creator’s mouth.

For example, a caption explaining how to sort a list can sit above a reaction before a screen recording. A caption saying the person earned a particular amount from your tool makes a separate factual claim. Do not infer that claim from the source footage.

Keep a simple record with your project

Save the purchase confirmation, source filenames, final export and the terms you relied on. Keep separate permissions for music, logos, screenshots and any other material you add. Buying a video clip does not automatically clear every asset in a finished ad.

For unclear usage, email hi@ugcpeople.com with the clip, proposed edit, distribution channels and whether a client is involved. Describe the actual use rather than asking for “all rights,” so the answer can address the project. For legal interpretation of a contract or a regulated campaign, get advice appropriate to that situation.

  • Identify the source clip and account that obtained it.
  • Describe the finished video and who will publish it.
  • List distribution channels and any special client requirements.
  • Keep written answers with the project, not only in a chat thread.
